Due to the national effort to support the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic, as of 24 March 2020, the Patient Safety Measurement Unit (PSMU) has suspended data collection from trusts. It is therefore not necessary for trusts to upload monthly data or highlight reports to this portal.

Phase 2 of the Maternal and Neonatal Safety Improvement Programme was launched on 9 March. For the time being, only essential and coronavirus-related activities, including maternal and neonatal deterioration improvement work, will continue.

Your data remains valuable to us and is crucial to evaluating the National Patient Safety Improvement Programmes. We will be in touch as soon as we can about how future data collection and reporting will take place. Thank you for your support.

Getting access to the MatNeo Improvement Portal is pretty straight forward.

If you have been involved with the "away" team you should have been set up with permissions for your organisation and have received an e-mail confirming your access and login details. Please check in your junk / spam folder .

If you have not received the e-mail please get in touch with the PSMU Support Team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you were not on the initial lists that we received that is not a problem, we are happy to set you up, there is no limit on the number of users for each organisation.

To get set up you will need to be confirmed / approved for access on behalf of the organisation.

This can happen in a number of ways:

  • Approval can come from the NHS Improvement team
  • You can get some one from your organisation who has access to drop us an e-mail confirming your access
  • Not sure who has been set up for your organisation? You can drop us an e-mail directly requesting access and we will e-mail the existing users in your organisation for confirmation.

That's it! We will set up your account and permissions and you should get an e-mail confirmation when its done (you may need to check your junk mail!)
